Digital Support for the Elderly from Our Public Relations Students

As part of their social responsibility project, Bartın University Marketing and Advertising Department Public Relations and Promotion Program students organized an event called "Safe and Effective Media Use for the Elderly" at Bartın 75th Year Nursing Home. The project aimed to produce solutions to the difficulties faced by elderly individuals in the digital world and to develop their technology usage skills.

The students provided training to nursing home residents on how to use digital tools such as smartphones, tablets and the internet. The training particularly drew attention to important issues such as safe internet use, protection of personal information and online fraud. Guidance was also provided for the elderly to use systems such as e-government applications and online banking more comfortably.

Student İrem Nur Alaca, who is the project manager, said, "We implemented this project with the guidance of our project advisor Dr. Lecturer Özkan Avcı and the valuable contributions of my classmate Aslı Hilal Ceryan, so that our elderly can be more active and secure in the digital world. The elderly's determination to learn and their interest in technology made us very happy. I would also like to thank the nursing home authorities who supported us in carrying out the project." 75. Yıl Nursing Home authorities also thanked the students for this meaningful work.

At the end of the event, informative materials were distributed to the elderly about digital security and effective media use.
