Online Communication Seminars: Why Is Emotional Intelligence Important?

The first of the Bartın Vocational School Communication Seminars started with the seminar titled "Why Emotional Intelligence Matters" by Professor Doctor Gülay Öztürk, Head of the Public Relations and Advertising Department of the Faculty of Communication at Istanbul Commerce University.

In the event with broad participation, Öztürk mentioned the importance of emotional intelligence in business life. Stating that emotional intelligence has the capacity to understand and manage our emotions, Öztürk said that emotions are the most important element that ensures the survival of human beings in the history of humanity. Emphasizing that trainings for emotional intelligence are also very important in the personal development of the individual, Öztürk said that emotional intelligence courses should be included in the education curriculum starting from primary school.

Öztürk said, "A high level of emotional intelligence develops a sense of empathy. What distinguishes leaders from others is generally their level of emotional intelligence. Today, businesses have an increasing graph of mobbing cases. The emotional intelligence of managers is of great importance in the fight against mobbing. It needs to be measured”
