Public Relations and Promotion Program Students Draw Attention to Peer Bullying at Gazi Middle School

Bartın University Public Relations and Promotion Program students have undertaken a meaningful project that demonstrates their social sensitivity. As part of the social responsibility project called "A Society Without Bullies", students organized an event at Bartın Gazi Middle School and came together with middle school students. The event emphasized what peer bullying is and the importance of being more respectful and loving individuals towards our environment.

Students communicated with the little ones at Gazi Middle School by playing enjoyable and educational games. In the striking part of the event, two different bags were prepared. While the first bag contained positive and constructive words, the second bag contained bullying expressions. Students were shown words representing bullying behaviors, and the importance of staying away from such behaviors was explained, and then the papers with these words written on them were symbolically torn.

At the end of the event, a poster prepared by our Public Relations and Promotion Program students and bearing the words "Say Stop to Bullying!" The badges that read “Say No to Bullying!” were presented to Gazi Middle School students. The aim of this meaningful gift was to raise awareness and sensitivity towards peer bullying. The project revealed the sensitivity and solution-oriented approaches of university students towards social problems, while contributing to the development of future adults as more conscious and empathetic individuals.

Project Advisor Dr. Lecturer Özkan Avcı said, “Our aim was to raise awareness about peer bullying in our children, who are the assurance of our future, and to show them that they can communicate more lovingly. The interest and participation of our students at Gazi Middle School made us very happy. We believe that we were able to convey the message of “Say No to Bullying!” to them, and I would like to thank our public relations students who carried out the project.”

Bartın Gazi Middle School officials thanked Bartın University students for this meaningful and educational event, and stated that they will continue to support all kinds of positive social responsibility projects as a school.
